Please contact your State Senator TODAY about the FY21 state budget!

The House of Representatives completed budget debate last Thursday, and MAMH is grateful to everyone who joined us in advocating for behavioral health. This week, your State Senator will be debating and voting on a budget for the remainder of the fiscal year (December 2020 – June 2021).

We are grateful that the proposed budget released by the Senate Committee on Ways and Means is extremely strong for people with behavioral health conditions and their families. It includes a $1 million increase for the DMH Rental Subsidy Program, a restoration of the cuts to the DMH child/adolescent line item that were in the Governor’s FY21 budget proposal, and $10 million for start-up costs and capital expenditures for rapid creation of new inpatient mental health acute care beds in the Commonwealth.

However, there are a few critical pieces that are missing and we please need your help!

Contact your Senator and ask for their support of the following Amendments:

  • Amendment #190 (Filed by Senator Friedman) - $350,000 increase to support Bridge programs to help youth who have been out of school for psychiatric or other hospitalizations to successfully transition back to school
  • Amendment #206 (Filed by Senator Rausch) – $200K increase to support Elder Mental Health Outreach Teams (EMHOTs), which provide critical mobile services to older adults in the community
  • Amendment #368 (Filed by Senator Boncore) - $3M increase to support Individual Homeless Shelter programs

By clicking the TAKE ACTION button above you can learn more about the amendments, and generate an email to your State Senator.
